End of Summer Inventory by Jessica Miller

It's been fun and busy last two months!  Thank you to all the investors, agents and sellers who have hired me to help sell their listing.  Whether it was already listed, new to the market, a flip, occupied, vacant or a spec.  I love and appreciate them all.  Happy selling and happy buying, Des Moines!

Best,

Jess

TOP 17 IN 2017 by Jessica Miller

Twenty seventeen has been quite the year. Thanks to new and repeat clients, I staged 52 homes (35 last year) all while being pregnant and being new to motherhood. It's been a wild ride thanks to Des Moines real estate. Can't wait to see what twenty eighteen brings!

Happy New Year to all!

Here's my top 17 of the year.

Baby Lucia's Room Before and After by Jessica Miller

We decided to turn the smaller bedroom that was once my office into the nursery.  When I brought the house in September of 2015, I discovered not one but two layers of wallpaper! One that you see here and the one beneath literally just plain white textured paper.  My mom rented a deluxe steamer and bought a laundry detergent because this wallpaper would not come off.  So much so that we were losing piece of the wall.  After a couple days, the wallpaper was officially gone, dry wall needed to be replaced and my whole house smelled like Tide.

The next steps were to paint the walls, ceiling (it was literally brown) and trim.  The first color I chose for my office was Iced Apricot SW 6352. We thought we could keep this color for the nursery but decided it was a little too dark once everything was placed. We ended up landing on Nearly Peach SW 6336. I'm a big rug fan so I found the rug I loved first then started shopping for supporting items based on rug.

Jenny Lind Crib - Buy Buy Baby; Vintage Moroccan Boucherouite Rug - Spearmint Love; Glider - Amazon. Antique buffet - The Picker Knows; Baskets - CK Design Co; Elephant Hamper - Home Depot; Chandelier - Wayfair; Cat paintings - Ramona Muse.

Home Sweet Home by Jessica Miller

Well the last seven months around the Miller/Lemmo home has been eventful to say the very least. Last Fall, when we found out I was pregnant we dove head first into home renovations.  Luckily for me, Tony (my partner) is hybrid between Martha Stewart and Bob Villa.  And luckily for him, I am really talented general contractor i.e. - picking out interior finishes, furniture and decor.  Here's an overall view of everything that has been completed thus far in our 66 year old Waveland Woods home. Stay tuned for room by room details with progress photos and details of what was used and where we found it.

Johnston Overhaul by Jessica Miller

I was contacted back in April by a homeowner who lived out of state but had a property in Johnston, Iowa.  The homeowner worked hard to get the home market ready were talking - gallons of paint, lighting updates, stuff removal and a deep cleaning. I was contracted to stage the living room, kitchen, entry, dining room and master suite.  I also advised on paint colors, lighting updates and kept her updated on the progress of the home over the 90 days it took to get the home market ready.

4941 Urbandale Ave Transformation by Jessica Miller

I started teaming up with the talented Rally Cap Properties team late last Summer.  Since then, I've staged a handful of their properties around Des Moines. I am always super impressed with their professionalism, talent and visions for each home.  Recently, they asked me if I would be interested in leading the design process and stage an upcoming flip in Beaverdale. Of course, I agreed! Check out how the charming mid-century home transformed below.

4941 Urbandale Ave Inspiration Board just in case you see something you love!

Open house is today (Saturday, March 11th) from 3:30- 5:30pm.

8276 Aspen Drive by Jessica Miller

Last Thursday, I staged this new modern home in the West Des Moines on Aspen Drive. I got to go with a more masculine look to match it's city loft look.  It was definitely fun to stray from the all white/neutral look that I usually choose to balance the home.  Unfortunately for you, this listing sold already on Saturday.

Behind the Scenes with Do It Yourself Magazine by Jessica Miller

Yesterday, I spent the day on set with Do It Yourself Magazine.  The story is sewing guide for beginners called "Sew at Home".  As the prop stylist, I was hired build sets to support the projects. Anything from walls, paint selection, floors, furniture and props.  Check out some behind the scenes photos. Story will be published in Winter 2106.

7309 Benton Drive Before and Afters by Jessica Miller

This week's listing is large mid-century home just north of the Buccaneers Stadium in Urbandale.  I focused on the living room, dining room and kitchen of this home and also consulted on a new interior paint color and decluttering.  The owners have put a lot of work into this home, I am sure it will not last long on the market! Full listing here.

44th Street Home Before & After by Jessica Miller

Last Monday at noon, I was hired by Rochelle Burnett of Keller Williams to stage a home in the Hollywood neighborhood (that's what my iPhone location told me) of Des Moines. The required turn around time was 30 hours.  EEK!  But, I got the home done by 5pm last night and I am super pleased with the results.

A little background - The family moved out but left the larger furniture behind. This space is great but it was sooo dark- dark walls, dark furniture, red accents...so cavernous. I knew immediately what needed to be done to bring out the full potential of this home. The family rented new rugs, pillows, side console, accent chair, bathroom and small home accessories from me.

This great Hollywood home will be on the market soon!
